Our Story
VaOurWay was founded in 2017 by a group of concerned Virginians who sought more transparency in our state government. Elections make news cycle after news cycle;
but we rarely hear anything when the legislature meets. In response, our founders created VaOurWay with the goal of tracking the General Assembly and disseminating useful information to citizens of the Commonwealth. Since our inception, we have monitored four General Assembly sessions and shared our findings with thousands of Virginians. We believe in a Commonwealth that gives every citizen a voice in the democratic process and an opportunity to flourish.

Our mission is to champion good governance in Virginia by promoting non-partisan, open, and informed discourse between citizens and legislators, increased public engagement, and practical transparency.

We envision a Virginia where every individual, regardless of means, has the opportunity to actively participate in a fair and open government through adequate resources, education, and a leveled playing field.

VaOurWay promotes the passage of common-sense legislation that matches Virginia’s values, regardless of partisan lines. In particular, we champion issues related to creating a more fair and free system in which everyone can participate.

The General Assembly can be a complicated and quick-moving body, so VaOurWay provides free, real-time legislative tracking and creates legislative breakdowns and reports to help Virginians better understand what is happening with important issues.

Active participation in government can be a complex and daunting task for the average person. VaOurWay provides free updates and creates resources to keep citizens informed and involved.
